What Is IGF-1 LR3?
Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 Long R3 (IGF-1 LR3) is a synthetic analog of human IGF-1 modified with an arginine substitution and an N-terminus extension to significantly reduce its affinity for binding proteins. This modification extends its half-life to approximately 20-30 hours, allowing for prolonged activation of the IGF-1 receptor to stimulate cellular proliferation, protein synthesis, and tissue regeneration.
IGF-1 LR3 Research & Studies
01 Inhibition of activin-like kinase 4/5 attenuates cancer cachexia associated muscle wasting ▸
This study demonstrated that IGF-1 LR3 increases muscle fiber differentiation and nuclei count, showing synergistic potential in preventing muscle wasting when combined with myostatin inhibitors.
View Study (PubMed)02 Revolutionary decellularized Alstroemeria stem-based nerve conduit integrated with GelMA and controlled IGF-1 LR3 release for enhanced rat sciatic nerve regeneration ▸
Research showed that controlled release of IGF-1 LR3 significantly enhances nerve regeneration and functional recovery in sciatic nerve injury models.
View Study (PubMed)03 Sheep recombinant IGF-1 promotes organ-specific growth in fetal sheep ▸
Experiments confirmed that IGF-1 LR3 increases body weight, organ growth, and skeletal muscle myoblast proliferation, though it lacks the physiological regulation of natural IGF-1.
View Study (PubMed)04 Coronary vascular growth matches IGF-1-stimulated cardiac growth in fetal sheep ▸
Administration of IGF-1 LR3 was found to increase cardiomyocyte proliferation and heart mass while maintaining proportional coronary vascular conductance.
View Study (PubMed)05 Attenuated glucose-stimulated insulin secretion during an acute IGF-1 LR3 infusion into fetal sheep does not persist in isolated islets ▸
Infusion of IGF-1 LR3 was shown to decrease plasma insulin concentrations and reduce glucose-stimulated insulin secretion in vivo.

*Based on large scale analysis of publicly available user experiences
Users generally acknowledge its high potency for muscle growth and injury recovery, but frequent concerns regarding long-term cancer risks and impacts on insulin sensitivity create a cautious sentiment.
IGF-1 LR3 Benefits, Dosage & Side Effects
- Protein Synthesis: Potently stimulates the growth and repair of skeletal muscle tissue and organs.
- Cellular Proliferation: Increases the number of cells in muscle tissue through hyperplasia rather than just hypertrophy.
- Injury Recovery: Accelerates the healing of soft tissues, nerves, and connective structures.
- Metabolic Shift: Enhances nutrient shuttling into muscle cells, often leading to fat loss as a secondary effect.
- Anabolic Potency: Considered significantly more effective than standard IGF-1 due to its resistance to binding proteins.
- Half-Life: Its extended duration of action (20+ hours) allows for systemic effects rather than just localized growth.
- Vascular Benefits: Research indicates it can promote cardiac and vascular growth in proportion to muscle expansion.
- Age Factors: Users with low natural IGF-1 baselines report more dramatic improvements in fatigue and recovery.
- Experimental Range: Common anecdotal research doses range from 20mcg to 100mcg per day.
- Administration: Typically administered via subcutaneous or intramuscular injection due to its peptide structure.
- Protocol Length: Frequently cycled for 4-6 weeks to avoid excessive down-regulation of native receptors.
- Timing: Often used post-workout to leverage peak nutrient sensitivity for recovery.
- Hypoglycemia: Can cause significant drops in blood sugar levels due to its insulin-like action.
- Insulin Resistance: Long-term use or high doses can impair natural glucose-stimulated insulin secretion.
- Organ Growth: Potential for unwanted growth of internal organs (visceromegaly) with prolonged use.
- Cancer Risk: Concerns exist that elevated IGF-1 levels may accelerate the growth of existing undiagnosed tumors.
- Research Chemicals: Primarily sold through research chemical sources as 'not for human consumption'.
- Grey Market: Significant presence in the bodybuilding community, though quality and purity vary between sources.
- Regulatory Status: Specifically banned by WADA and most professional athletic organizations as a performance-enhancing drug.
