What Is GYMNEMA SYLVESTRE?
Gymnema Sylvestre is a woody climbing shrub native to India and Africa, traditionally known as 'Gudmar' or 'sugar destroyer' for its unique ability to temporarily suppress the taste of sweetness. It contains gymnemic acids which interact with taste receptors and inhibit sugar absorption in the intestines while potentially stimulating insulin secretion from the pancreas.
