What Is BERGAMOT?
Bergamot (Citrus bergamia) is a citrus fruit extract standardized for polyphenolic flavonoids including naringin, neohesperidin, and neoeriocitrin. It works primarily by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase (similar to statins), reducing cholesterol synthesis, and improving lipid metabolism through effects on AMPK and PPAR pathways. It is primarily used for managing dyslipidemia, reducing LDL cholesterol, and improving metabolic health markers.
